The United States of Europe is a Joke!

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By Doug Krieger French & Dutch Reject EU Constitution & British Table ItWe Await Chiracs Resignation! The anticipated rejection by the French of the much vaunted United States of Europe, and its Constitution (the vote in France was 45% for and 55% against), conclusively demonstrates, once again, European political and economic ineptitude compared to that of the United States of AmericaNotwithstanding, the toilet (a French word) was invented by a Brit by the name of Thomas Crapper not by a Frenchman. The Dutch followed, and the Britished tabled the matter. Imagine, the extremity of European cultural diversity, language, religion, and history have all come full circle to highlight centuries of particularism, political fratricide, and religious intolerancenone of which could convince the European mindset that unity with variety would lead to a multipolar world in which Europe would function as the political/economic counterweight to the unipolar world of the United States of America. The French originally spearheaded the European Unions quest for economic and political integration . . . with the British providing noble resistance and forever frustrating efforts indirectly on behalf of the USA (Note: The USA from time to time gave tepid support, but all along it was only because it might be to her economic and political advantage.) The entire notion that the French would abandon their social safety net by opening up their labor markets to plumbers from Poland was ludicrous The treaty’s rejection in a bitterly contested referendum in France - the architect of the European project - could set the Continent’s plans back by years and amounts to a personal humiliation for the veteran French leader (President Jacques Chirac). Treaty opponents chanting We won! gathered at Place de la Bastille, a symbol of rebellion where angry crowds in 1789 stormed the prison and sparked the French Revolution. Cars blared their horns and No campaigners thrust their arms into the air. This is a great victory,” said Fabrice Savel, 38, from the working-class suburb of Aubervilliers. He was distributing posters that read: No to a free-market Europe. Viva la USA As a result of all this Euro-nonsense and eco-politico-posturing (man, what a waste of time and money), the much-touted EUROthat economic counterweight, that renaissance of European leadershipcollapsed to its lowest 2005 level against the almighty dollar ($1.25 EU). No matter what kind of united face-saving device you put on this (Note the inane remarks of Gerhard Schroeder of Germany): The European Union (as a counterweight to the USA) is dead! And . . . something else smells liked its dead . . . and thats what we here at the Tribnet wish to point out to those who know that the New American World Order System is not about to be challenged by our European forebears and erstwhile upstarts who know NOTHING about how to become a unified economic, military, and political power under girded by moral authority based upon the so-called Judeo-Christian ethic. What might that eschatological conclusion be? You guessed it: It is a total farce to conceive, since the turn of the 20th Century, that USA ascendancy could ever be challenged by the effete Europeans and, consequently, the BASE of Antichrist is not found in the squalid political and economically deficient European quagmire but in the New Rome: The United States of America. Furthermore, the Europeans, especially the isolated French, are so intimidated (and rightly so) by FREE MARKETS (viz., the overt intrusion by the multi-nationalsled by US corporate interestsepitomized by the WTO, IMF and World Bank)that their idiotic celebration of the EU Constitutions defeat only belies the vacuous pride they have in their insipid ignorance of the world formed by the Merchants of the Earth who delight to feed at the trough of Babylon the Great. Dont think my seemingly prideful remarks are aimed at the Frenchno; theyre aimed at the evangelicals of the USA who havent a clue as to whats been happening (politically, economically, and even religiously) since Manifest Destiny under Teddy Roosevelt kicked the Spanish out of the New World. First of all, and for those of you out there who ponder the following food fight amongst us Premillenarians as naught but asinine theological posturing (perhaps interesting but absurdly irrelevant in the sum total of whatever counts), let me assure youtheres a whole lot of present-day implications on whats going down around us and how we live in our world as a result of these ridiculous observations. Heres where we start . . . a few quotes and comments (yours truly) from well-meaning, but totally off the mark brethren who wish to remain patriotic Americans will suffice: The mention of a core Europe or a core group of European nations resonates with Bible prophecy in the books of Daniel and Revelation. It concerns a latter-day revival of the Roman Empire. The prophet Daniel predicts that a group of 10 kings (national leaders) will give rise to a frightening union that will fulfill many end-time prophecies. Depending on the decision of the French, and later the Dutch voters, the coming weeks may give some hint to the answer to the Economists intriguing question: And What Happens to the Beast Now? Imagine, brother Hal Lindsey could say these remarks knowing the demise of the EU Constitution, and, ipso facto, the United States of Europewhat prophetical insight do we witness here! Come on Hal, get with the program. Your prognostications are so outmoded that even you know that the canary (really a crane) on the elephant is not the base of Antichrist, but the elephant itself!! (Must see photo @ http://www.the-tribulation-network.com I repeat on behalf of the hard of seeing, the bird represents the fine efforts of Chirac and Schroeder, the elephantapparently utterly indifferent to the free ride hes providing for the cranerepresents the European nemesis, the American New World Order System. HALS TEN TOES AND THE THREE HORNS RIPPED UPA LESSON IN WORLD HISTORY 1 A meaningful, but brief digression, is in order before I get back to well-meaning brethren (and, incidentally, since most of them are Premillenarian, believing that the Kingdom of Heaven is yet to manifest itself upon the earth through the miraculous intervention of the Second Coming of Christ, my only intention here is to hit them over the theological head to get their attention vis–vis American hegemony and the consequences of its neglect). First of all, a short lesson in world history might be in order; and, since Im credentialed to teach the subject (man, Im even certified as a No Child Left Behind instructor in the subject), I already have my reward . . . but lets take a gander at the evolution of the Image seen in Daniel and alluded to in Hals above and most recent remarks. What Hal alluded to was the Image of Daniel and the allusion to the Ten Toes of that same Image and its counterpart found in the book of Revelation where it is referred to as the 10 Toes/10 Kings/10 Horns (Daniel 2:41-42; 7:7, 20, 24; Revelation 12:3; 13:1; 17:3, 7, 12, 16) The picture of the Image seen by the Gentile world leader of the Neo-Babylonian Empire (Nebuchadnezzar) envisioned the development and/or evolution of Gentile World Power set within the context of the Jewish exile; and, the commencement of Jerusalem trodden under foot of the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled (Luke 21:24; Revelation 11:2) is/was confirmed by Jesus in His discourse on the latter days, and, subsequently, referred to by John in the Apocalypse. The point of the matter here, insofar as metals relate to this revelation, is that the Babylonian head of gold evolves into the silver of the Medo-Persian Empire, which in turn evolves into the Grecian bronze, and ultimately into the two legs of iron represented by the Roman Empire. This imagery of Gentile World Powers and their evolution is decidedly a progression of WESTERN CIVILIZATION, not of Islam, Asian, African, or any other civilization which would/has dominated the planet (thank you Dr. Huntington)! Next, the Ten Toes of this Image are described as a mixture of both clay and ironsome strong and some weakand clearly are an extension of the legs of the Roman Empire from whence they protrude (Daniel 2:33-45). It is likewise true that these 10 toes/horns are representative of ten kings and that these ten kings are European powers which in some way, shape and form constitute the original environs or spheres of landed-influence of the Roman Empire. Up to this point Hal and Doug concur; however, it is precisely at this point our convergence has a drastic departure! (Please continue to the remainder of the article/links/graphics at http://www.the-tribulation-network.com/dougkrieger/united_states_of_europe.htm Doug is a member of the Last Days Network, a group of evangelical writers committed to bringing news and commentary on all matters related to Religion and Politics–especially those of the Christian Religion and American Politics. Their insights far outway peripheral food fights of wild-eyed prophets viewed by effete liberals given to secular distate for such absurdities. America, unlike Europe, and, quite frankly, the rest of the planet, takes its religion seriously (at least they’d like everyone to think so). It’s this perspective in today’s American press that needs emphasizing . . . witness: Enter Howard Dean and his “White Christian” take over of the Republican Party. Well, at least Doug and the Evangelical Network he reps. isn’t going to let that one by, neither the strange, yet profound, implications relative to the European Union and its (for all intents and purposes) demise . . . just how does that little ditty impact upon two of America’s best-sellers ever: The Late Great Planet Earth, and the “Left Behind” series . . . no, you’ll like their read a whole bunch! Vintage Doll House Furniture

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By Laura Anne Grey Vintage doll house furniture is very difficult to find. Most old pieces of doll house furniture have been played with so much that it is very difficult to find any still in one piece. Dolls houses are also often passed down in families and old furniture pieces are replaced or lost along the way. If you are fortunate enough to come across a vintage piece of furniture cling onto it for all your worth. True vintage pieces can be worth quite a bit and I have seen single pieces of furniture sell for hundreds of pounds. It is always nice if you can find a vintage piece of furniture that we dont use in our houses any more and these are always worth the most. Like a 50s style cooker from an actual fifties doll house or a Victorian pram from an actual Victorian doll house. There is also Vintage Hand made or Artisan dolls house furniture. These are pieces especially made by craftsmen and women. A lot of work goes into a hand made miniature item and they are usually very detailed. Hand made miniatures are usually exquisite pieces and believe it or not can cost thousands of pounds. You are very lucky if you find a hand made piece of vintage furniture. The best place to start looking for vintage doll house furniture is your local auction house. It is best to look for an old doll house because they often come with some furniture still in tact and they are easier to find than miniature furniture alone. Laura Anne Grey has been a doll house builder and miniature enthusiast for over ten years. She own a doll house business in South Wales and is an expert in her field. Secrets to Successful Conflict Resolution

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

By Paul Davis Going to court is becoming increasingly costly and often futile. Parties and individuals in conflict are therefore turning to alternative methods of dispute resolution mediation and arbitration being two options. We must negotiate our way from confrontation to cooperation. Here are some Secrets to Successful Conflict Resolution. 1.Consider conflict an opportunity not a curse Conflict is a character building and interpersonal communications improvement opportunity. We all have blind spots, preconceived ideas, personal peculiarities and tendencies that can make us hard to deal with at times. Being able to identify other character types and communication styles is beneficial for us, though it may not always be easy to endure at first. Learn to respond to conflict naturally and with openness. Keep your ears and heart open to receive. In so doing you will disarm the aggressor and show yourself to be a reasonable human being. To do otherwise will only further antagonize the angered party and increase aggression and the erecting of walls between you. Sometimes as you listen and ask for more information as to the true source of the conflict you will find perhaps that what seemed to be the initial problem was merely superficial as you dig deeper into the real underlying problem eating at the person. In such situations conflict becomes a learning experience for both of you. 2.Respect and dont reject people regardless of your disagreement Separate the person from the behavior. Remember we all come from different backgrounds, upbringings and environments that have shaped and molded us to be who we are today. We are all continually changing and evolving. Give people grace to grow as they come to a greater level of self-awareness. As you do and they discover how gracious youve been to them, they will become the most loyal employees you will ever have. This is true empowerment. 3.Acknowledge and confess any contributory negligence Conflict always begins within. It is often bred within our own hearts and minds as we prematurely judge, falsely assume, erroneously jump to conclusions, and allow ourselves to become overly invested in our individual interests. Purity of heart and mind is obtained when we examine ourselves first before scrutinizing somebody else. We must judge ourselves first. We commonly however judge ourselves by our intentions and others by their actions. This is to say we dont typically use fair weights, standards and measures when we judge others. If we would be brutally honest with ourselves we would find that in every conflict we have somehow contributed to it be through what we have said, done or left unsaid and undone. Neglecting to affirm your employees after work well done is as negligent behavior as them forgetting to get the work done. We all hunger for recognition and praise. Management must honor and recognize people for their performance. If we dont recognize someone else will. To avoid employee departures and high turnover, we must honor and acknowledge their efforts. Sometimes in the midst of all our efforts to be increasingly productive and profitable, we are not personable and can be offensive one to another. Recognize such times and apologize for being that way. By acknowledging and apologizing wrong doing you as the executive in charge are taking responsibility and encouraging everyone to be responsible. Confession brings freedom. Suddenly you will find many people begin to humble themselves and confess their own faults. It wont be long before everyone is reconciled and bonding again. Rest assured when this happens employee morale and productivity will skyrocket. Where people feel well they work well. 4.Step into greatness by overcoming evil with good Forgive and extend a chance to be reconciled. After World War I the United States proved to be a society with enormous confidence in its achievements and in its future wherewith it mustered the dedication and the resources to strive for a world order in which defeated enemies would be conciliated, stricken allies restored, and adversaries converted. Because the United States took the higher ground endeavoring to reconcile, restore and convert its enemies after defeating them, it is today a world super power. The stronger you are the more gentle you can afford to be. Gentleness is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of true strength. When you overcome evil with good it disarms the wrongdoer to be transformed after which they are more likely to live up to your ideals and level of integrity. 5.Formulate what you want to say and how you will say it Remember it is not only what you say, but how you say it. The manner and tone by which you express yourself will determine the level of receptivity with which it is received. Receiving constructive criticism is never easy, but it can be bearable if the person giving it is kind, affirming and sincere. Start up soft, affirming the persons good qualities and your working relationship before proceeding to find fault and correct. Build on strengths and proceed from a place of agreement. Compliment and praise before providing constructive criticism. 6.Value internal security and harmony over external security and acceptance. Be confident and congruent with what you say in conflict. Dont waver because of resistance or lack of acceptance. Be true to yourself. Avoid personalizing rejection concerning corporate decisions and objectives. Separate yourself personally from the corporation at large. 7.Avoid premature assumptions Premature and erroneous assumptions dwarf you, hinder employee morale and diminish the company. Dont believe it is so until you have first heard it from the horses mouth. Avoid gossiping. Get things out in the open and speak face to face respectfully. Remember presumption is the great transgression (Psalm 19:12-13). Before the days of U.S. President Reagan and Russian President Gorbachevs relationship, inherent ideologies and perceptions kept us apart. Communist ideology was at the heart of Stalins approach to the world. Stalin regarded the Western capitalist powers as irrevocably hostile. The friction between the Soviet Union and America was therefore not the product of some misunderstanding or faulty communications between Washington and Moscow, but inherent in the Soviet Unions perception of the outside world. George Kennan, an expert on Russia, examining the philosophical and conceptual framework for Stalins foreign policy found in Russian rulers fear. At the bottom of the Kremlins neurotic view of world affairs is the traditional and instinctive Russian sense of insecurity. To this was added, as Russia came into contact with the economically advanced West, a fear of more competent, more powerful, more highly organized societies. But this latter type of insecurity was one which afflicted Russian rulers rather than Russian people. 8.Speak with positive expectation believing the best Stating your feelings and desire with positive expectation pulls people to the level of performance you desire. For example, William, youve always done a great job of giving your all in every account. As of late however you seem to not quite be yourself. Is there anything I can do to help? I desire to see you succeed and be your personal best. Know I am fully committed to you as you are to this company. Affirming a person and your expectations of their success will endear a person to you and cause them to want to live up to your wishes. You get what you expect. Henry Kissinger, in his Diplomacy book, recognized the part faith played in the United States rise to becoming a global power. President Truman proclaimed his doctrine as the policy of the United States to support free peoples who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures. The Truman Doctrine marked a watershed because once America had thrown down the moral gauntlet, the kind of Realpolitik Stalin understood best would be forever at an end. Anchored to a platform of social and economic reform, the United States announced that it would oppose not only any government but any organization that impeded the process of European recovery. Only a country as idealistic, as pioneering, and as relatively inexperienced as the United States could have advanced a plan for global economic recovery based solely on its own resources. Great enterprises are often driven by a touch of naivete. 9.Practice active listening, offering reflections Listen attentively and reflect back what you are hearing the person saying. Reiterate and seek to clarify that you are hearing correctly. By doing so, you give the person an opportunity to double their feedback to you and accurately convey both their thoughts and feelings. Provide inclusive summaries stating your take on what they are saying after youve fully heard them. Follow the emotional heat alongside the content being mentioned. Intense emotional tones accompany the most important content clueing you in on where you need to place additional emphasis and attention. Upon locating the emotional heat, ask for more information and investigate further while proceeding with sensitivity. Proactive listening is accompanied with nonverbal cues and body language that affirm your genuine interest. For example, you could lean forward attentively. Avoid folding your arms as if to display disinterest or disagreement. Nodding your head also shows you are absorbing and taking in all that is being said. This is not to say you have to necessarily agree with what you are hearing, but you by listening can affirm the person. Highlight the choice points you heard made throughout the conversation and welcome any suggestions to alleviate the conflict. This will often open up the other person to likewise hear from you in regard to the matter. 10.Prefer and encourage cooperation and collaboration over competition AOLs negotiator, David Colburn, showed what can be done when he chose not to vilify the competition. I first studied this landmark case prepared by Professor James Sebenius with the author while studying Strategic Negotiation and Dealmaking at Harvard Business School. AOLs relationship with Microsoft was overwhelmingly hostile during the browser wars. In the early 1990s, Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft, had been the single largest shareholder in AOL with a 29% stake. Allen wanted to take over AOL but was stopped in his tracks by Steve Case CEO of AOL. At the time, Bill Gates turned up the heat on Steve Case, telling him: I can buy 20% of you or I can buy all of you. Or I can go into this business myself and bury you. Two months later Microsoft unveiled MSN and became AOLs most formidable direct competitor. Gates was demonized within AOL and a hostile relationship developed between the companies. The media and information technology journalists had dubbed AOL the Internet for dummies. Steve Case desperately wanted to license the Navigator browser because a link to Netscape would gild AOLs tarnished technological image. AOLs lead negotiator, David Colburn, who had only joined the firm in September 1995, was not hostile toward Microsoft. Colburn therefore was able to look for the better deal for AOL and assess what the market had to meet AOLs needs. As it turned out Colburn brilliantly did some double dealmaking with both Netscape and Microsoft. AOL would pay Netscape a significant per copy fee to license Navigator which would become the preferred browser for AOL subscribers under a non-exclusive agreement. In return, AOL would have a prominent presence on the Netscape website and both companies would engage in cross-promotional activities. That day AOL stock rose 10%. The very evening AOL inked a much bigger deal with Microsoft. AOL would not have to pay Microsoft a penny for Explorer saving it millions. AOL client software would be bundled with Windows 95 allowing costless distribution to 50 million PC users a year. This free distribution and promotion via Windows represented a marketing coup because, until now, AOL had had to spend $40-$80 to attract each new subscriber. MSN suddenly became a casualty of the AOL-Microsoft deal. Demonstrating daring strategic flexibility, Gates sacrificed much of his firms investment in MSN to fight Netscapes threat to Microsofts core assets. The biggest win for Microsoft was that Explorer would be the virtually exclusive default browser for AOLs rapidly growing subscriber base. Shutting Netscape out of this large market segment was a triumph not to be underestimated. Cooperation does not mean an end to competition. As for our differences, we will not do away with them, but we can deal with them more constructively and creatively to build win-win relationships. Conflict resolution is about facilitating and sustaining daily cooperation. Interpersonal conflict that we encounter every day can seem to be an insurmountable obstacle: attacks and counterattacks, anger and suspicion, ingrained habits of hard bargaining, interests that appear irreconcilable, and efforts to win through intimidation and power plays. Cooperation and collaboration on the other hand can stimulate creativity, increase profitability, lead to profound results and produce lifelong partnerships. 11.Practice diplomacy Diplomacy is the art of letting someone else have your way. Master the art of persuasion. Instead of barking out orders, be suggestive in your directives to enable your staff to take ownership of ideas and embrace them as their own. Perhaps you could say, “I realize you’ve always been a top performer, but in this instance I was wondering if you might consider this approach to accomplish these results?” Suggestions sustains confidence in people while asserting your wishes indirectly. 12.Focus on problem solving and welcome outside input You are either part of the problem or part of the solution. Be honestly open to accept influence and consider anothers position. Reflect such openness in your body language when listening. Albert Einstein said: It is people who make me seasicknot the sea. But Im afraid that science is yet to find a solution for this ailment. Solutions come when we actively pursue them together rather than fight one another. We all have blind spots and different perspectives. When we work together we all see more clearly and become more powerful. None of us are as strong as all of us. 13.Remember in conflict you can win a battle and lose the war. Albert Einstein said: As long as there will be man, there will be wars.War is becoming an increasingly expensive and inconclusive way of handling acute conflicts. In an age of deadly weaponry, even bitter enemies must often learn to work together in order to survive. Henry Kissinger in his book Diplomacy cites the aftermath of World War I. Once war had been declared, and as the streets of European capitals filled with cheering throngs, the conflict ceased being a conflict of chancelleries and turned into a struggle of the masses. After the first two years of the war, each side was stating terms incompatible with any notion of equilibrium. What proved beyond everyones imagination was that both sides would win and lost at the same time: that Germany would defeat Russia and seriously weaken both France and England; but that, in the end, the Western Allies, with Americas indispensable assistance, would emerge as the victors. The aftermath of World War I was social upheaval, the enemy being strengthened geopolitically, ideological conflict, countless young mens lives sacrificed and another world war. 14.Celebrate diversity and authenticity diversity in thought, expression, professionalism, problem solving, interpersonal communication and way of life Einstein said further: Common convictions and aims, similar interests, will in every society produce groups that, in a certain sense, act as units. There will always be friction between such groupsthe same sort of aversion and rivalry that exists between individuals. In my opinion, uniformity in a population would not be desirable, even if it were attainable. 15.Cultivate a culture of peace and preferring one another By cultivating a culture of peace patience and tolerance for one another will be the result. Where there is patience unconditional love and acceptance is not far behind. Such an environment makes people feel safe, thrive, come alive and be increasingly creative and productive. By preferring one another over ourselves, we give way to a spirit of generosity and brotherhood which causes a team mentality to arise. Less of me more of we. When we think like this the organizations well being as a whole is thought of before that of the individual. Ask not what your company can do for you, ask what you can do for your company. Win-win relationships and interactions are then forged which bring about mutually inclusive benefits for all. 16.Maintain a sense of humor and unconditional acceptance As successful marriages show us, you dont have to always resolve your disagreements and conflicts to thrive. When you welcome people into your world they bring their peculiarities and problems along with them. Where there are no oxen the stall is, but much increase comes by the strength of the ox. Sometimes you have to accept people as they are realizing they may never change. Matters of personal preference do not need to take preeminence in your working relationship. As the old adage goes there are many ways to skin a cat. Each of us prioritize differently. Keep things in their proper place and dont unnecessarily take offense at anothers approach, manner of reasoning or way of logically (or illogically) processing a situation. Life is to be lived and enjoyed. Employ your sense of humor and unconditional acceptance of others and you will get far greater results and work productivity from your staff at the end of the day. People want to be acknowledged as individuals apart from their performance. Problems are inevitable. Celebrate and empower people despite their peculiarities and you will see them go the extra mile for you to solve your problems. Dont take yourself too seriously. Have a good laugh to diffuse the tension, disarm people and reunite with all involved. 17.Be merciful Anyone can hold a grudge. It takes a quality person to rise above the offense, extend mercy and overlook it. Practice the art of pardoning and refuse to hold past resentments. Forgive and live! Bitterness is a heavy burden that eats away at everyone involve and further spreads to infest all around you. Its not worth carrying or perpetuating. As Shakespeare acknowledged mercy is twice blessed. Mercy blesses he that gives it and the recipient that takes it. The Matter of Choice in Long Distance Relationships

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

By Alex Chew Have you ever come across someone who just kept saying that a long distance relationship would not work no matter how hard you try? It even sounds more familiar when he/she ends the conversation with the universal phrase such as I know it because I saw lots of failed LDR If you choose to listen to this kind of comment, then you choose to fail in your long distance relationship because you will never be able to survive your LDR. The reason is simple, you choose to listen to the wrong command or choose to believe the wrong concept. I truly believe that everyone in this world have their own opinion which is best to them all the time. What they think is true to them because they are capable of thinking only the true thing. I dont blame them because they are true at least in their own little world. It is all up to us to believe what is said or we can choose to believe that every outcome is at our own hand. Let me tell you this, you can completely determine your own outcome when it comes to a long distance relationship. How you think what you do can really determine the result of your LDR. If you choose to believe that you can determine the outcome of your long distance relationship, then your LDR journey will becomes easier or more predictable. Below are some examples of the positive choices you can make in relation to your long distance relationship. 1) Believe in Yourself, Your Partner and the Relationship Throughout the period of a long distance relationship, nothing beats the trust and believes you had in yourself, your partner and the relationship. You can prepare yourself whatever you want but if you do not believe that your long distance relationship will work then, nothing matters anymore. Therefore, you must choose to believe that the relationship will work regardless of all the odds mounting against your relationship. 2) Set Back is a Way to Strengthen your Relationship There are no such things as a perfect romantic relationship and needless to say when it comes to long distance relationships. Set back is part and parcel of a relationship but how you tune yourself to see the set back is very important. You can choose to see it negatively or positively and the outcome (solutions) derived from what you choose can determine the course of your relationship. Therefore, instead of viewing the set back as a hindrance or threat to your long distance relationship, you must view it as an opportunity for you to strengthen the relationship. 3) You can Choose to Win or Lose It is our nature to see only the negative side of everything due to lack of self confidence and uncertainties. We do not blame you for having this thought as most of the couples in long distance relationship we work with, expressed the same concern. However do you know that the success rate for long distance relationship couples is as good as any other relationship? Research has proven that the success rate for long distance relationship is as high as 85%. With this data, you can choose to be in the positive 85% or choose to stay in the failure 15%. Therefore if you are serious about your long distance relationship, you must put yourself among the success 85%. 4) Opportunity in Distance Physical distance in a long distance relationship is not necessary bad to the relationship. Although physical distance prevents you from certain physical activities such as hand holding, kissing, hugging and sex, it does not prevent you from advancing further into the relationship. The physical distance is a good opportunity for you to rediscover the relationship and yourself. You can always take the opportunity to upgrade yourself while your partner is away such as taking up the courses that you have always wanted to take and etc. In fact the distance will also test your patience, the love you had for your partner and as well as the integrity of the relationship itself. Therefore, instead of focusing on what you cannot do over the distance, you can always focus on what you can do to improve your relationship from the distance. What you choose here could really determine whether you are happy or not throughout your long distance relationship. 5) Problem in Communication. Communication is one of the biggest elements that could either make or break your long distance relationship. Unfortunately, many people believe that they are not going to make it when it comes to communication due to the difficulties, time and cost involve. Instead of looking at the problems, you can always think of the opportunity that comes along. The biggest opportunity here is to learn how to communicate effectively over the distance. The valuable skill cannot be learned anywhere else as distance will automatically sharpen your conversation skill. If you start to think carefully, all other problem mentioned earlier can be solved easily with current available technology (Internet, VOIP phone, email and etc). Therefore, it is proven again that you have the ability to choose what is best for you in regards to long distance communication. There are two sides to every coin and the above are just some of the examples of the choices you can make in your long distance relationship. How or what you choose really makes the difference throughout the period of your long distance relationship. The choice is at your hand, choose correctly and you will triumph regardless of any relationship. Lastly, I on behalf of Perfect-Relationship.com would like to wish you all the best to your long distance relationship. Alex Chew is an avid believer of Long Distance Relationship. He has been actively involved in helping distance couples on their journey through his research works and books. Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Carrie_Reeder]Carrie Reeder Need money for car repairs? Home improvement? Medical bill? If you have an unexpected expense, and not enough cash, consider a no credit check payday loan. Payday loans are slowly replacing personal bank loans. Because banks have strict loan guidelines, individuals in need of quick and easy cash are taking advantage of cash advance loans. Emergency Payday Cash Loans Cash advance personal loans are easily available to you during an emergency. Instead of running across town borrowing money from friends and family, submit an application for a cash advance. Upon approval, you will receive funds the same day. Because the cash advance company direct deposits the loan, you may have the cash within an hour. Use the extra money to pay a bill, fix your car, etc. No Credit Checks or Collateral Payday loans are convenient because they are fast, involve no credit check, and require no collateral. Banks have a long loan process. Moreover, banks base loan approvals on credit reports and collateral. If you do not have sufficient property to secure the loan, your application is denied. With cash advance payday loans, you will not experience credit inquiries, nor do you have to give the loan company the title to your vehicle. To receive a cash advance, you must have a checking account and verifiable employment. These are short-term loans, generally paid in full within two weeks. Each cash advance company operates differently. Some will require copies of a state issued identification card such as drivers license, military ID, etc. Along with recent pay stubs, you have to fax this information to the company. On the other hand, some cash advance companies have a no fax operation. Simply submit your application, and wait for the company to contact you with an approval. You will receive notification through email or phone. Signing the Personal Loan Agreement Before signing the personal loan documents, you should fully comprehend the terms of the loan. What is the loan fee? What is the interest rate? When is the loan due? What is the penalty for non-payment? If you do not understand the document, ask questions. “I’ve Given Away Control of My Life To Doctors-and Now I Want It Back.”

Monday, February 25th, 2008

By Ben Plumb But How Realistic Is It For You To Start Managing Your Own Pain Using the Mind-Body Connection? If you’re fed up with the callous treatment, invasive procedures, and under-medication that some doctors provide, you’re not alone. But be cautious before you totally embrace a natural approach. Here are some general guidelines to keep in mind and some specific information on one natural technique, visualization. If you’ve been in pain for months or years, you’ve probably been to see osteopaths, pain management specialists, and possibly chiropractors and acupuncturists without getting help. You feel like you’ve given up control of your life to them and may want to take it back using some form of the mind-body connection. This is a healthy reaction if you don’t carry it too far. First, the use of traditional medicine or the mind-body connection doesn’t have to be an either/or choice. Often the two complement each other. Second, not all mind-body connections are equal and only one or a few options may be right for you. Meditation, relaxation therapy, self-hypnosis, hypnotherapy, biofeedback, affirmation, visualization, and other methods all differ in terms of ease of use, effectiveness for preogramming the subconscious, and cost. For a comparison of ten different ways to ease your pain using the mind-body connection, please see the free report available from the Web site mentioned at the end of this article. Click on the link, go to the Home page, and download the free report. Third, if you’re encouraged by the possibility of using using visualization statements to program the subconscious to deliver relief, you should know that so far it’s been directly applied to three of the five major types of chronic pain, and indirectly applied to one other. About Visualization Visualization statements represent the specific language that your subconscious wants you to read back to it to help ease your pain. Theyre simple and are targeted directly at the main factors that could bring you relief. You can obtain these statements by learning how to communicate directly with your own subconscious mind. The process is straightforward and can be done at home by working with a facilitator over the telephone. You you need no special skills and no previous experience in working with the subconscious. Here’s a recap of how visualization statements have been used to date: Back Pain and Pain in the Extremities (Neck, Shoulder, Hip, Knee, Foot, etc.) Unless a fracture of the spine is involved, these kinds of pain tend to be caused by strains on muscles, joints and ligaments, or by pressure on nerves in the spinal cord. Visualization has had good results with these and other malfunctions of the musculoskeletal system and may be able to ease your pain to some degree. Fibromyalgia Pain Fibromyalgia pain may be a malfunction of the sympathetic nervous system, which controls the fight or flight syndrome. In fibromyalgia the sympathetic system becomes hyperactive, causing pain throughout the body, as well as sleep and digestive problems. Visualization has produced positive results with fibromyalgia, helping to relieve pain, improve sleep and digestion, and improve energy and cognition levels. While the condition is complex, it seems to respond well to management by the subconscious and we’re encouraged by results to date. Arthritis Pain Rheumatoid arthritis pain results from the immune system attacking joint linings. Psoriatic arthritis pain is similar to the rheumatoid variety, except that it is accompanied by the eruption and shedding of skin over large areas of the body. Osteoarthritis pain results from a breakdown of the cartilage in joints, leading to pain, stiffness and inflammation. While we have not worked directly with rheumatoid arthritis, we have worked with the psoriatic type. In psoriatic arthritis it seems to be possible to use visualizations to program the subconscious to have immune T-cells be put into action only when the body is truly attacked by an outside invader. This may also work for rheumatoid arthritis. We have not yet worked with a participant who has osteoarthritis. But we have had good results working with back and extremity pain, which involves focusing the subconscious on increasing the elasticity of tendons and ligaments. If it has done that with back and extremity pain, it may be able to do the same for cartilage. Neuropathic Pain This kind of pain is caused by damage to nerve fibers. In some cases the pain is in the periphery of the body, such as in fingers and toes due to diabetes, or in the face or elsewhere due to shingles. In other cases the pain is generated within the central nervous system itself. This can show up as burning sensations, muscle pain, pins and needles, shooting pain, visceral pain, pain from what normally shouldn’t hurt, and other sensations that range from the moderate to the severe. We have not yet worked with neuropathic pain (nerve pain). However, the signals for this pain are transmitted by the same brain chemicals that we normally deal with when focusing the subconscious on other kinds of pain. As such visualization may be able to provide some relief. Cancer Pain Cancer is a life-threatening condition whose pain is best managed by medical professionals. Working With the Subconscious The subconscious is quite powerful. When programmed through the very visualizations that it suggests, it may be able to turn episodes of uncontrolled pain into events over which you have a degree of control. Male Role Models: Who You Need and Why You Need Them

Monday, February 18th, 2008

By Brian McDonald Whenever youre searching for advice and wisdom and your dad just wont do, you have to look for role models elsewhere. You need to define yourself as a man, and you need examples to lead the way. Being a real man means that there are certain traits you have to adopt and most of these are already latent in your personality. All you have to do is find the perfect role models to mold yourself after. Here are the best men, fictional and real, to help you take the steps you need in order to become A Real Man. 1) James Bond Bond: That looks like a woman’s gun.Largo: Do you know a lot about guns, Mr. Bond?Bond: No, but I know a lot about women. Have you ever seen this guy in a crisis? Does he run away and scream at the first sign of trouble? Never. He maintains a state of relaxed confidence. The way you react during a crisis definitely shows your character, and if you have any sense at all, youll prefer having James Bonds character instead of Richard Simmons. Of course, you may give yourself only five seconds of panic at the first sign of trouble. But after that, you have to take a calm and confident attitude or else your emotions will get the best of you, and youll end up making things worse. When it comes to approaching women, James Bond doesnt stutter or say Uhm between silences. He knows exactly where he wants to take the conversation. If the lady shows disinterest in him (a rare case), he shrugs it off. He doesnt wallow or linger around like a loser. He walks away from it elegantly. It takes practice to follow his example when it comes to rejections, but its an attitude youll definitely have to develop if you want to allow yourself to take chances. 2) James Dean Dream as if you’ll live forever. Live as if you’ll die today. James Deans persona is the embodiment of the saying Live fast, die young. While it is not recommended that you die young, living fast sounds like good advice. Do something wrong once in a while. It doesnt have to be illegal, it just has to be wrong in one way or another. Smash your fist into a wall. Take up boxing or wrestling and join an amateur competition. Find a way for you to get that natural, exhilarating high. While women say the like stability, most of them are attracted to the wildish nature in men. This wildish nature is the part of a man that seek adventure, unpredictability, and excitement. Get in touch with that aspect of yourself once in a while. Not only will this make you open to new experiences, but it will also make you feel as if youve lived life to the fullest. 3) Donald Trump “Think big, or go home.” His hairstyle notwithstanding, Donald Trump is a man that all men with ambition should look up to. He takes his dreams seriously, and he doesnt tolerate laziness and mediocrity. He was also married to very beautiful women probably because they couldnt resist how strong and driven he is. It doesnt mean that you should make money and business a priority, the Donald Trump way is finding something that youre passionate about and pursuing it. It means finding a balance between listening to other peoples advice and following your own instincts. Having a sense of accomplishment is something that all men should aspire to, mostly because it makes you feel as if youre contributing something to the world. And lets face it other people, especially women, are drawn to men who have attained something worthwhile. 4) Those Guys from Queer Eye for a Straight Guy It just goes to show: bad taste does not discriminate. Jai Rodriguez No, you do not have to sleep with other guys. While it may seem odd that five gay guys are in a real mans role models list, wouldnt it be great if these five guys didnt have to work on straight men anymore? The concept is simple, really men should pay more attention to proper food, grooming, fashion, interior design, and culture. Get rid of the stereotype that heterosexual men are clueless about fashion. Leave the dirty rooms and baggy gangsta clothes to highschool boys. You dont have to nit-pick on every speck of dust in your home or every gram of fat in your food, you just need to pay a little more attention on how you present yourself as well as what you put inside your body. If youre finding the whole gay thing a little awkward, get a subscription of a mens health or mens fashion magazine to keep yourself updated. 5) Vito Corleone Do you spend time with your family? Good. Because a man who doesn’t spend time with his family can never be a real man. Women like an alpha male, and one of the important characteristics of an alpha male is that he takes care of his family. Being protective and caring of your family and friends shows your deep interest in people, as well as your dependability. Give your younger siblings advice, give your mom the nice coat shes always wanted, and dont be afraid to help out random strangers. You have to be a rock that people can lean on during times of crisis. The test of a true man is to show strength during hardship and this strength is based on reason, not anger and brute force. All real men should display leadership qualities, but they shouldnt confuse this with bossiness. True leaders know when to take charge and when to step aside make sure that you let your woman take control from time to time. The plus side of being a good family man is that when you see how strong youve become for other people, youll soon learn to trust your own strength and instincts. Lunesta Dependence

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ian_Mason] Ian Mason Lunesta is a newly released sleeping pill. Marketed as a revolutionary sleep aid, Lunesta is the only medication approved by the FDA for long term treatment of insomnia symptoms. Although Lunesta is a quality medicine that has already helped many people cure their insomnia symptoms and get a better night’s sleep, there is something you should know before your buy Lunesta. Some people taking sleep medicines such as Ambien, Lunesta and Sonata develop dependence on the medication over a long period of time. This means that with long-term use of these sleep aids, our bodies may get used to having the medicine. When we stop taking it suddenly, we may experience unpleasant effects, called withdrawal symptoms. After seeing the results of clinical trials, we noted that Lunesta is not a highly addictive substance. No cases of dependence were recorded among many people during six months. But, as with anything you get used to, it is usually hard to suddenly give it up.If you feel you might be facing a light dependence or addiction to Lunesta, please tell your doctor about it. Your doctor will help you gradually lower your dosage until you can stop taking Lunesta without experiencing the unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Diet for Smokers and Ex-Smokers

Friday, February 15th, 2008

By Linda Smyth As a dietitian, the three most common questions which smokers ask me about diet and smoking, are: (1) Can a diet compensate for health damage caused by smoking? (2) What should I eat if I smoke? (3) If I quit, what type of diet is best to prevent weight gain? (1) CAN A DIET COMPENSATE FOR SMOKING? No diet or eating-plan, no matter how nutritious, can neutralise the health damage caused by the 850+ chemicals in tobacco smoke - many of which are carcinogenic. On average, if you smoke 20 cigarettes a day, you double your risk of a heart-attack and are five times more likely to suffer a stroke than a non-smoker. At 40 cigarettes a day, you are five times more likely to suffer from sudden cardiac death. Smoking is also the leading cause of lung cancer. Thus before we even start to examine an appropriate type of diet for smokers, my overriding advice is: quit smoking today! (2) WHAT SHOULD I EAT IF I SMOKE? For anyone who smokes, daily diet nutrition is critical. The damage doneto the body’s cardiovascular and respiratory functions requires a constant need for extra nutrients. Even if you smoke 5 cigarettes a day, you have increased nutritional needs due to your increased risk of hypertension, atherosclerosis, emphysema and numerous cancers. As stated, a healthy diet will not prevent these health conditions, but it may delay their development. INCREASED NEED FOR ANTIOXIDANTS Tobacco smoke leads to increased levels of free radicals - cancer-causing agents - in the body and a corresponding need for protective antioxidants that can neutralise them. The main antioxidant vitamins are vitamin C and vitamin E (which works best in combination with the mineral selenium). Phytochemicals such as bioflavonoids and carotenoids (eg. beta-carotene) are also rich in antioxidants. HOW TO INCREASE YOUR ANTIOXIDANT INTAKE Use the following suggestions are a guide to minimum dietary requirements. - Eat 3-5 daily servings of deep green, dark red, orange of yellow vegetables.- Eat 3-5 daily servings of red, yellow, orange or green fruits.- Switch from coffee to tea, ideally green tea.- Each day, take 2 tsp of wheatgerm oil (rich in vitamin E) and 6 Brazil nuts (selenium). [Note: a serving is approx 1 medium fruit, or 1/2 cup chopped] SPECIAL NEED FOR INCREASED VITAMIN C One cigarette is estimated to rob the body of 25mg of vitamin C. Thus all smokers have a greatly increased need for this antioxidant-rich vitamin simply to maintain minimum levels. In practice, this need can only be met by taking supplements. As a general guide, I suggest you take 1 gram of vitamin C supplements per day. Choose a “timed-release” brand that includes a minimum of 100mg bioflavonoids. BEST DIETARY SOURCES OF VITAMIN C Fruits, such as: blackcurrants, papaya, guava, cantaloupe, elderberries, kiwi fruit, mango, oranges, strawberries. Fruit Juices, such as: cranberry, grapefruit, lemon, orange. Vegetables, such as: red peppers, green peppers, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale, tomatoes. PROTECTIVE CAROTENOIDS Carotenoids are pigments found in plants. All carotenoids are antioxidants, the most common example being beta-carotene. It is found in green plants (eg. spinach), as well as orange and yellow plants, such as carrots, sweet potato and melons. Clinical trials indicate that when consumed in foods - not supplements - betacarotene reduces certain precancerous symptoms. [Warning: for reasons which are still unclear, beta-carotene supplements actually increase the risk of disease (eg. lung cancer). Thus your intake of beta-carotene should come exclusively from food.] HOW TO INCREASE YOUR INTAKE OF CAROTENOIDS Use the following suggestions are a guide to minimum dietary requirements. Eat 4 daily servings of deep green, yellow or red vegetables, including: carrots, sweetcorn, pumpkin, spinach, sweet potato. Eat 4oz tomatoes daily, either in sauce or chopped. Eat 3 daily servings of colored fruit, including: melon, oranges, strawberries, mango, cherries. PROTECTIVE BRASSICAS According to research evidence, cigarette smokers who eat more brassicas have less incidence of cancers (eg. breast, colorectal, lung, pancreatic, prostate and stomach). As all these cancers are initiated by free radicals, it follows that brassicas may help to prevent other problems initiated by free radical damage and accelerated by smoking, such as: cataracts, emphysema, asthma and age spots. Brassicas include: broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage (all types), cauliflower, cress, horseradish, kale, kohlrabi, mustard, radish, swede, turnip, watercress. GARLIC AND ONIONS Garlic is a good source of unique antioxidants and contains anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. Its anti-tumor properties are well documented. Onions, a member of the same vegetable family, have similar properties to garlic. MORE DIETARY TIPS FOR SMOKERS Reduce the total fat in your diet. At the same time, minimize your intake of saturated fat and trans-fatty acids. Eat regular servings of omega-3-rich oily fish (eg. salmon, mackerel, sardines). Eat healthy carbohydrates. Avoid refined white flour carbs, choose only whole grains such as, oats, brown rice, wholewheat pasta. In addition, choose foods rich in soluble fiber (eg. apples, oat bran). Eat healthy low-fat protein such as fish, lean chicken/turkey, or egg-whites. Include small amounts of lean red meat in your diet, along with regular servings of soy foods (eg. soybeans) and other vegetable protein. Reduce sodium in your daily diet. Check food labels and choose low-sodium or sodium-free foods. Also avoid adding salt when cooking or eating. TAKE REGULAR CARDIO-AEROBIC EXERCISE No cigarette smokers diet-plan is complete without regular physical exercise. Working within your fitness capacity, gradually increase the intensity and duration of your workouts to about 30-45 minutes a day, on most days. For best effects on lung capacity and cardiovascular function, choose aerobic exercise such as: brisk walking, jogging, jumping rope, swimming and most sports. (3) CAN YOU PREVENT WEIGHT GAIN AFTER YOU QUIT? Yes, if you take proper physical exercise and eat a healthy calorie-controlled diet, you are unlikely to gain weight. However, in my experience, some weight gain seems to be inevitable. WHAT IS THE AVERAGE WEIGHT GAIN? Most smokers gain weight immediately after they quit. Current evidence suggests that the average weight gain for both men and women who quit smoking is about 6-8 pounds. The more you smoke, the higher the risk of weight gain when you quit. This weight gain is due to the decrease in metabolic rate and an increase in appetite experienced when you quit smoking. This weight increase is perfectly normal, and need only be a short term event. SO WHAT SHOULD I EAT? There is no single diet which will prevent weight gain once you quit smoking. Your best option is to focus on healthy eating combined with regular vigorous exercise (within your fitness capacity) and let Nature do the rest. As a general guide, follow these suggestions. First, cut down on caffeine. Nicotine withdrawal makes us jittery and nervous. So it’s important to avoid coffee and caffeine-rich soft drinks which may increase this nervous tension. Second, increase your intake of fresh fruit and vegetables. Studies show that an increased intake of fruit and vegetables can help to minimize weight gain after you quit smoking. Eat them for snacks, add them to meals, eat them as starters and/or desserts. Eat them on car journeys instead of sweets or candy. Third, eat little and often. Avoid the temptation to linger over your meals. Get into the habit of eating smaller meals at more regular intervals. Aim to eat something, no matter how small, every 2-3 hours. This helps to maintain a regular rate of calorie-burning. Fourth, take steps to learn more about nutrition and choose nutrient-dense foods whenever possible. (See above for information about antioxidants, and healthy fats, carbs and protein.) WHAT ELSE CAN I DO TO PREVENT WEIGHT GAIN? Make physical exercise a top priority in your daily schedule. Ideally join a gym or fitness center and get into shape. Research evidence demonstrates a clear link between exercise and weight control after you quit smoking. Choose both cardio-aerobic and strength-training exercises, as both play an important role in raising metabolic rate. Also, make sure you get enough sleep. Research evidence shows that lack of sleep may lead to weight gain, as well as an increased craving for cigarettes and food.
